I’ve never tried pot-au-feu before, but again with the egg – those French! I was excited – now this is a vegetable soup I can get behind!

Warm Weather Pot-au-feu
Sunday, June 5th, 2011Bacon, Egg & Asparagus Salad
Friday, May 20th, 2011A few years ago, my sister and her (now) husband were living in Paris and Jon & I went to visit them for a lovely 10 days. I absolutely adore Paris – it was my second visit, but I remember even on my first visit how at home I felt once I’d hit the streets there, even though my French is not fluent despite studying it through most of my education. I’m such a terrible student.
One of the first places we ate at was actually a pizza restaurant and we each ordered our individual pizzas ‘avec un oeuf’. Yes, egg on your pizza – just a big ol’ cracked egg baked on top of all the toppings! What a revelation! And of course it was delicious! I tried once or twice to replicate it at home on my pizzas, but I can’t get it right – I don’t think my oven gets hot enough.
Spinach and Bacon Quiche
Friday, May 13th, 2011Thank you so much again to all of you who voted for my photos (you can still vote here and here if you haven’t already!) and for all your encouraging comments! I’ve also started a Facebook page for Frozen Plumb, so you can find me there, too!
FINALLY we’ve been getting some nice weather! Jon & I took Tucker down to High Park last Sunday for a walk and to see the cherry blossom trees that have finally bloomed (unfortunately, I didn’t have my camera with me. Bad photographer!). It reminded me so much of the year I spent in Japan and the cherry blossom season that year. I’ve been meaning to get down to the park all week to get some photos, but I haven’t made it back and I’m afraid I might have missed my chance. I’ll try and head down there today although we’re expecting a thunderstorm sometime so I might be seriously thwarted. In lieu, here are a few photos I took of my neighbour’s Nanking cherry tree in Calgary a few years back…
Basque Potato Tortilla
Friday, February 11th, 2011I’m sometimes crap about following directions. I know, hard to believe, right? So it’s no wonder I missed the post on French Fridays with Dorie informing us of the schedule for this month’s recipes. And as a result, I made the Orange Almond Tart instead of the Basque Potato Tortilla first. Realizing my mistake, I ended up making the tortilla for dinner later the same week and then blogging about neither of them last week, and I’m only getting to them both this week on Friday. Slacker!
